Materials Guide

Every Hideout Ship fantasy in Splatoon Raiders collapses without materials. Spirhalite Shards fund everyday upgrades, Spirhalite Gems gate major construction, and Salmonid parts decide whether Shiver can finish the gadget you actually want. This page is the farming companion to the Items Hub and the Hideout Ship construction guide.

Spirhalite Shards

Shards are the oil in the machine. Weapon levels, many crafts, and ship fees ask for them in stacks that look silly until you embrace Shard Mining dungeons. Story stages drop some shards, but dedicated mining is how you stop rationing every Frye click.

Spending rules of thumb:

  • Reserve a buffer for the next visible Ship Construction cost.
  • Upgrade the one weapon you clear with before novelty kits.
  • Do not ignore tank HP upgrades just to max a shiny five-star drip.

If clears feel soft, check shard sinks before blaming tier lists.

Spirhalite Gems

Gems show up as rarer construction catalysts—especially ship level jumps. Gem search dungeon types exist so you can target them. Because bills also ask for Salmonid parts, run gem stages only when you know the rest of the recipe is nearly ready; otherwise you will bank gems while still missing a jaw or mask.

Salmonid materials

Boss Salmonids and select encounters drop named parts: Salty Tongue’s Buckets, Steelhead’s Tires, Steel Eel’s Jaws, Drizzler’s Masks, Slammin’ Lid lids, Scrapper glass, Smoker tanks, and many more. Gadget crafts on Shiver’s board are essentially a shopping list written in boss language.

How to farm smart:

  1. Open the craft you want and write the parts list.
  2. Pick dungeon icons likely to spawn those bosses or objectives.
  3. Bring a tank that beats that boss mechanic—Power for shields, Speed for reposition, Tactical for setups.
  4. Turn the parts into the gadget or ship upgrade immediately so you feel the power spike.

The dungeons matrix helps you stop using Treasure Hunt as a vague answer to every shortage.

Materials versus collectibles

Materials are spent. Collectibles are tracked. Do not confuse Briny Scrolls or outfits with craft fuel—those live on the collectibles page. Relics are powers, not scrap; see relics.

Power Eggs and Mega Power Eggs fuel Bot Buddy pressure more than ship menus. Still pick them up—Showstopper windows win boss rooms that drop the parts you came for.

Early island shopping list mindset

On Lehlo’s Pantree Beach, learn combat first; materials are a side effect. On Erpp’s Piel Coast and Blansh Seaway, start noticing which bosses appear while you defend crystals. By Scayl Buried Ruins, you should enter with a reason—“I need buckets for X”—instead of only “I need to beat the story.”

That intentionality is what makes Switch 2 session time feel efficient.

Difficulty and material rates

Tourist, Raider, and Survivalist change enemy strength, not the fundamental idea that loot remains available. If a Boss part farm is failing because you keep dying, drop difficulty. A living raider with Tourist clears outfarms a Survivalist ghost.

Co-op farming etiquette

State the material goal in chat before launch. A squad can rotate hosts so each player’s missing part gets two focused runs. Avoid “whatever” queues when someone is one mask away from a ship level.

Call for Help can gift helper rewards, but it is a poor primary materials plan compared with intentional map picks.

Convert materials the same night

Leaving piles unspent is how players feel weak with full pockets. After two farm raids:

  1. Visit Shiver if gadgets/parts are ready.
  2. Visit Frye if the main weapon can take a level without breaking the ship buffer.
  3. Visit the Mechanic if a facility or ship level is payable.
  4. Unequip nothing by accident—verify loadout on the raid checklist.

Example bottlenecks and answers

  • Cannot afford weapon levels → Shard Mining
  • Cannot craft the next Speed gadget → farm the listed Salmonid parts, not random chests only
  • Cannot raise ship level → check gems + parts + pending facility upgrades together
  • Cannot survive to extract parts → fix controls and builds before another greed run

Materials are not exciting screenshots, but they are why your screenshot clears exist.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the fastest way to get Spirhalite Shards?

Run Shard Mining dungeon types on a difficulty you can finish consistently. Story stages help, but mining loops fund upgrades more reliably.

Why does Ship Construction ask for weird boss parts?

Ship levels and facilities mix Spirhalite currencies with Salmonid materials. Check the recipe, then farm those bosses or stages on purpose.

Do harder difficulties drop better materials?

Enemy strength rises on Raider and Survivalist, but loot rules are not a separate ‘paywall tier.’ Choose the difficulty that lets you complete the objective.

Should I scrap weapons for materials?

Frye’s scrapping tools help recycle clutter after the ship unlocks those services. Keep your main clearer fully upgraded before you dissolve everything shiny.

Where do gadget part materials fit in?

Gadget parts and Salmonid craft parts both drop from island excursions and chests. Read Shiver’s board, then pick Treasure Hunt or boss-heavy stages that match the list.
